Sitting with the General
2026 is your own Ben Ming Nian - the year seat you were born into returns to duty. The General on duty is the same star-lord that governs your birth year. Tradition treats this as a threshold year: highly visible, full of potential change, and demanding of steadiness. The classical counsel is not fear but respect - major decisions deserve a second look, elders in the family deserve extra care, and the year rewards those who move deliberately.

Friction with the General
A punishing branch entangles your year seat - expect friction where things should be smooth. Xing is not collision but abrasion: contracts that snag, collaborations that chafe, health niggles that linger. The remedy tradition prescribes is precision - read what you sign, say what you mean, and keep paperwork, boundaries, and routines in good order.
What the tradition prescribes
- ◆Enroll in the annual 安太歲 (Pacify Taisui) ritual held in the first lunar month - the classical first response to any clash year.
- ◆Carry a consecrated Taisui talisman charged for 2026, and for Ben Ming Nian, the tradition of wearing red holds.
- ◆Give thanks to the General in the eleventh lunar month - the closing half of the rite most people forget.
- ◆Do good quietly: charity, volunteering, and donating blood are the classical ways to soften a clash year.
- ◆Read every contract twice and let small frictions stay small; do not litigate what you can renegotiate.
